Political aspirations: CCI’s Mirsad Hadzikadic seeking presidency of Bosnia
Mirsad Hadzikadic, director of the Complex Systems Institute at UNC Charlotte’s College of Computing and Informatics (CCI), is seeking the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A proud and loyal Bosnian citizen, he wants his country to unite, to stand on its own and, eventually to be welcomed into the European Union (EU) and NATO.

Educator to discuss identity and sexuality advocacy
Educator, activist and editor of Bi Women Quarterly Robyn Ochs will present “Beyond Binaries: Identity and Sexuality” at 6 p.m., Monday, April 16, in the Popp Martin Student Union.
Ochs has published works in numerous anthologies focused on bisexuality, women’s studies, multiculturalism and LGBTQ issues. She also edited two anthologies: the 42-country collection of “Getting Bi: Voices of Bisexuals Around the World” and “RECOGNIZE: The Voices of Bisexual Men.”
Portrait and storytelling project to celebrate UNC Charlotte community
Dear World is an internationally renowned portrait and storytelling project that has been featured on NBC, USA Today, CNN and Buzzfeed. Representatives from the project will present a live show at 7 p.m., Thursday, March 15, in the Cone University Center, McKnight Hall.
Apply for Chancellor’s Diversity Challenge Fund grants
The Council on University Community is accepting proposals for the Chancellor’s Diversity Challenge Fund, which supports initiatives that promote the daily value of diversity in the intellectual life of the campus. Faculty, staff or students are eligible to apply for awards of up to $5,000.
Softball stadium named for longtime fan Sue Daughtridge
In a ceremony before the 2018 softball home opener on Wednesday, Feb. 14, the Charlotte 49ers officially dedicated Sue M. Daughtridge Stadium. The BRIDGES Academic Leadership Program offers UNC Charlotte female faculty and staff members the opportunity to develop and strengthen their leadership skills, knowledge and networking to be successful change agents in their communities.

Trans Studies Reading Group to explore ‘Normal Life’
The UNC Charlotte LGBTQ+ Staff and Faculty Caucus has formed a Trans Studies Reading Group, which will discuss Dean Spade’s “Normal Life.”
This group is open to all UNC Charlotte students, staff, and faculty; space is limited. Email Elisabeth Paquette (epaquet1@uncc.edu).
The reading group will explore Spade’s work in two meetings (5 to 7 p.m., Feb. 15 and March 15).
University to observe International Education Week
The Office of International Programs, in collaboration with campus partners, will host the UNC Charlotte International Education Week celebration Monday through Friday, Nov. 13-17.
International Education Week is an annual showcase of the role universities hold in shaping global awareness and understanding. There are more than 15 engagement opportunities planned for the University’s celebration.
