UNC Charlotte and Stanly Community College have joined forces to pioneer the inaugural OnRamp to Charlotte Online agreement, a partnership tailored to support working adult students seeking a flexible online pathway from associate degree to bachelor’s degree.

This collaboration builds upon the foundation of the North Carolina Comprehensive Articulation Agreement, facilitating seamless information exchange between institutions. It aims to provide students with dedicated enrollment coaching and advising across a selection of programs offered by both colleges.

Annual Botanical Gardens Orchid Sale scheduled

The UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens will hold its annual Orchid Sale at the McMillan Greenhouse on Saturday, Feb. 10, and Monday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Feb. 14, the sale continues at the Popp Martin Student Union from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Orchids will be available while supplies last.

UNC Charlotte receives Library Excellence in Access and Diversity Award

UNC Charlotte’s J. Murrey Atkins Library has received the 2024 Library Excellence in Access and Diversity Award from Insight Into Diversity magazine. The LEAD Award honors academic libraries’ programs and initiatives that encourage and support diversity, equity and inclusion across their campuses. These include, but are not limited to, research, technology, accessibility, exhibitions and community outreach.

UNC Charlotte’s Black Alumni Chapter bestowed Excellence in Leadership Awards upon 10 outstanding alumni at a ceremony in the Popp Martin Student Union Saturday, Feb. 3.
The Excellence in Leadership Awards, founded in 2011 under the leadership of the first BAC president and former faculty member Gregory Davis ’76, recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Black, African American and African UNC Charlotte alumni who have achieved excellence in their respective fields and communities.This year’s honorees are:

Ten outstanding alumni were recognized recently at the sixth annual 10 Under Ten Awards ceremony sponsored by the UNC Charlotte GOLD Alumni Network.

Noted neuroscience researcher Kelly Cartwright named Spangler Distinguished Professor of Early Literacy

Kelly Cartwright recently joined the Cato College of Education as the University’s first Spangler Distinguished Professor of Early Child Literacy.

Cartwright previously served as professor of psychology, neuroscience and teacher preparation at Christopher Newport University in Virginia where she directed the Reading, Executive Function and Development Lab while contributing to the Center for Education Research and Policy.

Registration is underway for the Women in Data Science and Analytics Frontiers conferences. The UNC Charlotte School of Data Science hosts these annual events.

The Women in Data Science Conference, scheduled for Thursday, March 21, will be at the UNC Charlotte Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. The 10th annual Analytics Frontiers Conference will be at the Charlotte Convention Center Tuesday, April 16.
