The Alumni Association has launched its Niner Walk Alumni Brick Program, and starting Monday, Nov. 30, individuals can purchase a piece of 49er Way.

The brick walkway located between Cameron Boulevard and Richardson Stadium, 49er Way is the path the Charlotte 49ers football team, band and fans take from the Hauser Alumni Pavilion to the stadium during home games.

A limited number of customized bricks will be offered for the initial installation, which will be unveiled in April 2016.

Shawn Smith, UNC Charlotte director of bands, conducted a performance that was broadcast to a worldwide audience on Nov. 20 on the American Public Radio syndicated show “Performance Today.” The program, available on 237 stations nationwide and streamed online, is the most listened to daily classical music radio show in the United States.

Participants in the Sports Clubs program conducted a food drive to benefit the Niner Student Pantry; volunteers recently delivered 2,200 pounds of canned food to the organization.

The University’s Sport Clubs program provides students, faculty and staff with the opportunity to participate in a variety of competitive, instructional and recreational sports. A sport club is a registered student organization formed by individuals with a common interest in a particular sport or recreational activity. They are student-initiated and student-managed.

The Center for Wellness Promotion will partner with the Mecklenburg County Health Department on World AIDS Day to provide free HIV testing, educational information and giveaways. The event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 1, in the Student Union Rotunda. Students, staff and faculty are all welcome at this Wellness Passport event.

Students interested in applying for UNC Charlotte scholarships now have an easier way.

The new NinerScholars Portal enables students to apply for more than 500 scholarship opportunities offered by colleges, departments, programs and offices at the University with one application and through one online system.

South Village Crossing was featured in the November issue of On-Campus Hospitality, a national business publication that focuses on collegiate food services.

A 56,146-square-foot facility, South Village Crossing is located between Moore and Scott residence halls; it opened in January 2015.

Special education and child development professor David Test was one of six leading scholars invited to speak at a recent White House symposium celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

UNC Charlotte’s Hollywood-inspired Giving Green Campaign drew rave reviews from generous faculty and staff members. The result was an epic total of $194,698 in one-time gifts and payroll-deductible pledges to benefit the Arts & Science Council, the State Employees Combined Campaign and the UNC Charlotte Foundation.

Chancellor Philip L. Dubois expressed his appreciation to faculty and staff members who made a financial contribution during a special Giving Green “After Party” in the Barnhardt Student Activity Center Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Service members who are deployed away from family and friends during the holidays remember the comfort of receiving cards from the public. As one soldier remarked for the Army News, “For those guys to receive letters, it was the thing that made Christmas for them in a place where the environment is not covered in snow and cheer but with sand and fear.”
