The Charlotte men’s and women’s team captured the final 2013 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship titles Feb. 17 at Mackal Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Rhode Island.
Kasali Akangbe, the 2013 Africana Artist-in-Residence, will present a series of public lectures as part of his campus visit.
On Wednesday, Feb. 20, Akangbe will discuss “How We Saved Osun Grove: The Art of Preservation in Nigeria’s Sacred Forest” at 5 p.m., in Fretwell Building, Room 405.
It will be hats off to Dr. Seuss from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 2, at Park Road Books as the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences English Department cosponsors its second Seuss-a-thon.

The pharmaceutical industry’s efforts to self-regulate its direct-to-consumer (DTC) advertising are “an industry-sponsored ruse,” intended to deflect criticism and collectively block new Federal regulation, according to a study in the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law.
Through Friday, March 1, the Student Health Center will cosponsor the National College Health Assessment (NCHA), a survey, conducted in conjunction with the Mecklenburg County Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. The assessment provides the University with health, wellness, mental health, behavioral and attitudinal information about UNC Charlotte students.

Officials with the State Employees Combined Campaign (SECC) recently announced the 2012 campaign concluded with contributions totaling $4.4 million, an increase of 5.5 percent from 2011. UNC Charlotte was among the top 10 state agencies with an increase in SECC contributions.
